Queensland — Ribbon Reefs, Great Barrier Reef, Australia
Located at the northern end of Ribbon Reef No. 10, the Cod Hole is world-famous for its resident potato cod — large, curious groupers that approach divers closely. Humphead (Maori) wrasse, giant clams, moray eels and reef sharks complete the picture on a relaxed, shallow reef dive.
Access & safety: Reached by liveaboard from Cairns or Port Douglas. Feeding fish is not permitted; keep a respectful distance from the cod.
